fall on the farm

Our Day At A Farm
November 1, 2008

teagan didn't get any good pics in his costume when we went trick or treating, so he wore it to the farm the next day.

first stop, the petting zoo! we saw cows, ponies, pigs, goats, turkeys, chickens and a donkey! the pig was my favorite. we coaxed it over with a piece of pumpkin and trevin got to pet it.

then we stopped at the moon bounce. teagan and i just sat and relaxed while trevin wore off some energy.

this pic would be perfect if it weren't blurry... stupid camera.

trevin's favorite part was a wood fort. he spent most of his day climbing up the stairs on one side and going down the other.

while trevin was playing in the fort, i was taking pics of teagan with a friendly pumpkin.

after we'd had enough of the fort, we stopped on a swing for a rest. poor teagan didn't like the sun in his eyes.
it looks like trevin's saying, "anyone know who's kid this is?"

then trevin practiced his riding skills on a hay horse. here, he's letting me know he wants to go back to the fort.

then, for the grand finale, he got to ride a real pony! he really liked it too. i wasn't sure if i was wasting my money listening to a 2 yr old telling me he wants to ride a horse. but he didn't back out and was sad when the ride was over. i couldn't get a good pic of him on the horse though. he was too busy looking around to look at the camera.

the pumpking patch!

~October 24, 2008~
our trip to the pumpkin patch
here's trevin standing next to a giant mum.
he calls them "mommy flowers". get it?... mums.
he's so cute. =)
i borrowed a wagon from the farm to pull around the boys and the pumpkins. i was very glad to see they had one there, 'cause i wasn't sure how i was going to carry teagan and keep track of trevin and haul around giant pumpkins. but it worked with the wagon!

trevin had fun running around in the pumpkin patch.
we were the only ones in it at the time. so it was really neat
to have the whole thing to ourselves.
teagan's in the background.
poor guy just sat in the wagon while we picked our pumpkins.

here's trevin showing off his pick of the patch. out of all the pumpkins, he picked one that was starting to rot. so i picked a similar one (minus the moldy spots and squishiness) to bring home and tossed that one back when he wasn't looking. shhhhh.... don't tell. =)
all that excitement tired little teagan out.
isn't he just he cutest little angel? 0=)

halloween with the hafners (all but shane)

i've always wanted to have those really elaborate pumpkins that make trick or treaters stop and go, "wow, i wish i could do that!" so this year i invested $4 in a pumpkin carving kit and here are my marvelous results:

the picture's a bit blurry, as it was the end of a very loooong day and i'd eaten little food and lots of candy- making me a bit jittery. and it was cold. and my camera just kinda sucks lately, as every pic i take seems to be blurry. but i think my fabulous art still shines through. (pun intended)
i didn't want to light the jack-o-lanterns before going trick or treating, just in case they caught my house on fire while we were away. so i lit them as soon as we got back. but a total of ZERO trick or treaters came to the door, so no one got to marvel at my work. *sigh* i'll be a pro next year though! and maybe by then we'll have moved and we'll live in a civilized area where people actually trick or treat. =)
p.s. my fingers still hurt from the hours (about 8 total) of carving i did. i only posted 2 pics here, but i did 5 pumpkins. it took a whole lot longer than i thought it would!

here's my little octopus! happily running down the street saying, "mommy, house please!" it took some warming up to the idea, but after the first 5 houses (which took about 45 mins), he decided that trick or treating was, in fact, great fun!

what a helpful older brother! for a good 20 mins, trevin was insistant that he push teagan in the stroller. he couldn't see where he was going or push in a straight line and kept going off the sidewalk though. and then he'd get mad and scream, "no mommy!" when i tried to help him back onto the sidewalk. and then there were times when he'd just stand there in the middle of the sidewalk while other kids were trying to get by. and he's just standing there having a little fit. but, i guess it's all about him, so i just stood there with him. finally he decided he was done helping and we were able to finish the trick or treating with a much faster pace... until he wanted me to carry him.

here's the three of us. trevin's an octopus, teagan's a little dinosaur and i'm an exhausted stay at home mom! =) again, the picture's blurry. but i had to ask some random lady passing out candy at her house to take it for me. so i wasn't going to complain and ask for a do-over.
